Monarch Age

Technology was at a very low level at this time.  Life was simple and every person had a role to perform in his society.  Every household had well water with no indoor plumbing, simple farming of crops with livestock, and simple tools for every day tasks.  People drove animal pulled carriages, rode horses, paddled small canoes, sailed larger boats, or simply walked to satisfy their transportation needs.  Weapons were simple and required low maintenance.  Depending on the person or group, various blades, arrows, catapults, and one-shot pistols were used.  Some swords, daggers, and ammunition were made of silver, since most creatures of the night have a weakness toward it; otherwise they were made of steel.  Medicine was created by the use of refining herbs and animal extracts.  Medical treatment was rendered by use of medicine, simple surgery, or healing magic.

All kingdoms consisted of small villages surrounding a castle.  Obviously a king and queen sat on a throne at this time to rule over the kingdom.  The castle had three different types of guards at the king’s disposal.  One group was an elite set of guards to protect the king at all times within the castle grounds.  Another set would keep the laws enforced and maintain order among the villagers.  The third set was established to protect the kingdom from forces threatening the interior and the outside boundaries from invaders.  At this time lawbreakers were brought before the king to settle disputes and pass judgment on the crime committed.  Lawyers or representatives were used in this type of trial, but were not always effective.  The fate of the lawbreaker was therefore firmly in the hands of the king
